Harsco Environmental continues to raise its sustainability standards. The division announced its ALTEK business has partnered with Centreco (UK) Limited to generate greener electricity for production by installing 400 solar power panels at its Chesterfield (UK) facility. The Solar Power System is using the latest design techniques to build a custom solar energy system that matches ALTEK’s electricity usage profile, creating the opportunity for long-term environmental impact.
“ALTEK has a long history of working with the aluminum industry, helping customers achieve their sustainability goals by providing them with technologies that reduce operating waste and energy consumption,” said James Herbert, Managing Director ALTEK.
The solar panel installation is expected to allow ALTEK to reduce CO2 emissions over the next 25 years, decreasing its carbon footprint.
“Any company within the manufacturing sector is starting to feel the effects of rising energy prices, as well as growing environmental pressure, and ALTEK is no exception,” said Alan Cuthbert, Senior Project Manager at Centreco. “It’s always a pleasure working with a company who already has sustainability at their core and understands the benefits that a solar system can bring from day one.”
